On Friday we took a trip out to beautiful western Loudoun County to picnic and check out a newer winery in Bluemont. It was a lovely drive to Bluemont Vineyard...up a mountain where we were greated with 180 degree views across the valley between the Blue Ridge and Catoctin mountains. All you could see were farms, estates and lots of fields. The steep, winding and very cozy road up to the vineyard was an adventure but the views were worth it! The winery and vineyard is set atop the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge mountains at 951 feet. The wine was okay but the views were spectacular. Ben enjoyed playing on the terrace while we enjoyed a glass of wine and the vista!

Mr. Ben woke up with a very runny nose and lots of sneezes. Despite feeling under the weather he enjoyed lots of outdoor time this morning. He even got to see his very first snapping turtle!

I think this same snapping turtle passes by our back patio every year around this time. I can only imagine that he's heading to one of the nearby lakes. It must be quite the journey for him!
